Reporting to the EVP Visual Effects, the VP Visual Effects position will manage the Visual Effects and supporting staff on Universal Picture's films slate through all phases of budgeting, development, prep, shoot, and post production.Essential
Responsibilities:
Manage the Visual Effects productions on visual effects driven films through all phases of budgeting, development, prep, shoot and post production, many times without a freelance team.Provide guidance to filmmakers for establishing a production pipeline and plan on visual effects driven productions collaboratively with EVP.Act as Visual Effects liaison between filmmakers and internal departments on film projects.Prepare cost and schedule projections for Senior Management on active film projects.Provide early projection detailed VFX budget estimates and timeline requirements on projects in development at studio.Collaborate with Creative Team to develop Concept Art and Designs on early development projects.Liaise with Marketing on all stages of film promotion and branding.Establish relationships with VFX vendors domestically and globally.Manage and develop strategic alliances with existing Visual Effects Vendors, and evaluation of new suppliers.Development of talent acquisition and management strategies for freelance Visual Effects personnel.Partner with the EVP in the strategic planning and identifying new opportunities in Visual Effects technology.Develop continuous improvement practices, and work with the EVP on operational efficiency planning.Assist in maintaining department databases to track costs, history and talent availability pools.Manage special projects as assigned.Qualifications/RequirementsBasic Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years experience working in Visual Effects production.Minimum 5 years experience working as a production Department Head in a studio, with a vendor, or in the film industry.Extensive knowledge and understanding of the VFX process, including budgeting and scheduling.Eligibility Requirements:

Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Virtual Production and its applications in film productionEstablished and successful relationships with Visual Effects Vendors.Previous studio experience preferredDemonstrated initiative and ability to execute and follow-through; self-starter and accountable.Proven ability to work effectively in a high pressure, fast paced environmentSuperior organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritizeStrong leader with a vision; proven ability to self-motivate, work independently as well as collaboratively and motivate and inspire a team.Proficiency in MS Office and database application Filemaker Pro.Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work across teams.Bachelor's degree preferred
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
