Senior Production Counsel

Role Summary/Purpose:
This production attorney will be part of a team responsible for providing legal services on behalf of Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production unit that produces non-theatrical movies and animated TV series for worldwide distribution in all media.
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for all legal matters during the course of development and production, including but not limited to evaluating rights/chain of title issues, copyright, trademark and clearance matters, guild issues, advertising, promotion and publicity issues.
Negotiate, draft, review, analyze and interpret production contracts including above-the-line, production services, rights acquisition, co-production and negative pickup agreements in an accurate and timely manner and provide timely and thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues.
Advise and interface with all key company departments including development, production, accounting, finance, labor and employment, marketing, promotions, consumer products, insurance, tax, distribution, trademark and clearance teams on matters related to productions.
Basic Qualifications:
7+ years of entertainment legal experience at a major law firm or studio.
Member of the California State Bar or Registered with the California Bar as in house counsel.
A strong background in copyright law and intellectual property matters.
Excellent negotiation, drafting and analytical skills.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
