Manager, Finance-Retail


Successful candidate will help lead and support all aspects of Retail OperationsFinance for Universal Studios Hollywood theme park and CityWalk. Areas of responsibility include financial planning, business case analysis, process improvement, budgeting, reporting, accounting, inventory control, and staff management/development. Position has significant exposure to the finance and operations leadership team. Given current and planned expansion and improvement of the park, this candidate will play a critical role in growing the retail business of the park in a financially sound way.
Essential Responsibilities
Direct oversight of:

  • Financial forecasting (operating plan, latest estimates P&L and cash flows. Monthly capital pacing)
  • Reporting (weekly/monthly P&L, quarterly business reviews, cash flows, monthly capital position)
  • Accounting (inventory control, daily activity, monthly close, capital/project tracking)
  • Analysis (variance analyses, business case evaluation)
  • Continuous Process Improvement (financial & operational)
  • Partner with operating team to drive performance and develop and execute business strategies
  • Provide strong technical leadership, implementing best practices
  • Interact with senior leadership to provide financial updates/presentations
  • Team/staff management and development
Ad hoc projects, as requested


Bachelor's degree in Finance, accounting, business, economics or related field
Minimum 5 years of progressive finance, financial planning and analysis or accounting experience
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Desired Characteristics

Prior experience in retail/consumer products and/or theme park operations
Effectively lead and influence cross functional teams in a matrixed environment, including excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and influence a wide spectrum of customers
Proven advanced analytical abilities and resourceful problem solver, with the ability to prioritize and create approaches to meet required objectives
Ability to maintain a big picture perspective as well as be detail-oriented is essential
Demonstrates the ability to lead, manage and develop staff

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
